Tullproblem i Norge – del 1
It has taken just over two months but I have just received a letter from Norwegian Customs, giving me permission to leave s/y Williwaw ashore at a boatyard near Narvik for the winter 2011/12. The process was without problems – I simply wrote a letter telling them of my sailing plans in 2011 and 2012, and attached an email from the boatyard confirmng that they would store the yacht ashore during that winter. The permit has been sent by a Customs legal adviser and is very formal, quoting the legal authority for their decision. Nevertheless, the process was simple and there is clearly no difficulty in getting permission to over-winter in Norway. The mistake is to do it without permission, which is expensive!!
Best wishes,
Michael Smith
